What to Expect
Meet a driver at your hotel for 7am departure, then travel to the city of Mugla, where you’ll pause for breakfast. Upon arrival at the Ancient City of Ephesus, the tour begins at the administrative part of the city, which was reserved for Roman politics. You’ll see the preserved odeon, or parliament, an open-air space for meetings and political rallies. Walk down the marble streets, which were floodlit in ancient times, passing Roman baths, public houses, and latrines.
Enter the gorgeous Library of Celcus, then try out the acoustics in Ephesus’ enormous Roman theater. Following the guided tour of Ephesus, you’ll have independent time to shop for souvenirs, then pause for lunch (included in price).
After the meal continue to Selcuk, passing by the remains of the Basilica of Saint John, the ruined Temple of Artemis, and a fortress from the Middle Ages. If desired, make an additional stop at Meryemana, believed by some to be the final home of the Virgin Mary (entrance fees at your own expense). Otherwise, enjoy some free time in the city of Selcuk before the 3.5-hour return trip to the Bodrum Peninsula, where this tour concludes.
